Vos amis deviennent accessoires, votre carrière aussi. Un sérieux regard sur l'utilisation de la technologie par les nouvelles sectes dans un décor onirique créé par ordinateur.

Dance Sisters by New Zealander Alan Clay, had me hooked from the first explosive page. A female song and dance trio threatens to self-destruct on the brink of fame, when its leader becomes involved with a manipulative cult, touting sex, astrology and virtual dreaming. What a refreshing read!

Dance Sisters is written by Alan Clay - a New Zealand actor/writer based in Sydney. Dance Sisters describes the psychological dramas experienced by Eva following her initiation into a dream-group obsessed with the use of virtual-reality dreams. The dream-group emerges as a cult and the leader seeks to twist the members' perception of reality via computer-assisted dreams. A well-written insight into fringe-reality and quite a sizeable read for a demo. For mature readers.

Lorsque je lis un manuscrit pour décider si je vais le publier ou non, je lis les 2 ou 3 premiers chapitres puis je fais une promenade avec mon petit chien pour laisser mon imagination libre d'échafauder un univers basé sur ce que j'ai lu. Si cela vient naturellement, alors c'est oui; sinon, non. Avec ce livre, je n'ai pu m'arrêter au troisième chapitre et il a fallu que je le termine en une session de lecture. Il y a un certain réalisme qui s'apparente à ces histoires de manipulations qui apparaissent souvent dans les manchettes. Je me suis souvent posé la question à savoir comment et pourquoi un individu en arrivait à se soumettre à la volonté de quelqu'un d'autre. Ce livre m'a un peu éclairé sur ce sujet.
Ce livre sert aussi d'avertissement pour ceux qui croit que la technologie est toujours bonne.

The Dance Sisters are a female singing and dancing duo, recently expanded into a trio. They are in contention for an Australasian Song Award, and are supposed to be practicing hard for their performance on awards night. But, Pearl, the leader, has recently ended a relationship with Moana, the other original member, and has become involved in a cult that deals in things like astrology, group sex and virtual dreaming. Pearl begins to attach more importance to the cult than to the Dance Sisters, very much threatening their chances at the Song Awards. The pressures on the trio are explored from the point of view of Eva, the third member, as possibly the biggest night in their lives comes ever closer.
This is quite an enjoyable read. It's convincingly written, and the characters are real people, too. It's a story of friendship and camaraderie, but also a story of the impact of technology on society and is well worth reading.

À propos d' Alan Clay: né en 1954 en Nouvelle Zélande et a grandi à Auckland.
Il a fréquenté l'école de clown en Suède en 1977, et a depuis ce temps, enseigné et performé en Scandinavie, Angleterre, Australie et Nouvelle-Zélande.
Alan vit à Sydney depuis 1992, où il enseigne au Actors Centre, et dirige le Playspace Studio, un théatre dans le centre de Newtown.
Dance Sisters est le deuxième livre d'Alan. Son premier, Moontan - A Clown's Story, a été publié en Nouvelle-Zélande en 1994.
